Hi, my name is Lynne Ruffin.  I am a real estate agent with Long and Foster REALTORS in Norfolk, Virginia.  I am divorced with three adult children.

Day on the water viewing the National Harbor on August 21, 2010. Recent photos of my daughters at home in Norfolk.  I had a great time.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  My favorite past time is being on the computer browsing different websites, working on my own website, social networking, or playing online games.  Poppit is my absolute favorite online game it seems to be a bigger challenge to score 1,000 points or better than to solve word games.  I used to be crazy about Word Whomp then one day I played Poppit.  Scrabble is one of my best games online and offline.

My favorite books are motivational writings, technical books related to computer software, and how to do creative stuff.

Why I sell real estate?

  • Lynne Ruffin's daughter, granddaughter, grandsonI'm a Mother - I love my children.  If I am one day blessed to have my own growth venture I would want them right there with me running things day-to-day.  They have the smarts and infinite potential to be some of the greatest power players in business. I pray I live long enough to see them achieve the phenomenal success I know they are capable of.
  •  I'm a Grandmother to the little rulers who have invaded my heart - my grandchildren - just ask them.  Being a grandmother I understand why they are called "grand" because they make my heart filled with a grand illumination at just the thought of either of them.  My oldest granddaughter, well she has me wrapped around her pinkie finger, she will be happy to  provide confirmation.  I'm proud to say I got crowned with a party hat along with all the other children at my youngest granddaughter's sixth birthday party by the Little Princess herself.  I asked "Is this because I'm the biggest child in the house?" and she said and nodded "yes".  They think I'm silly and funny.  My granddaughter told me the other day "I'm fun to be with."  My heart is still smiling today.

  • Lynne's son-in-law - Charles, daughter Lauren, and MomI'm a Daughter - my mother is my mentor.  She retired after 29-1/2 years of civil service employment.  People often wonder where I picked up my computer skills, well I worked side-by-side with her from like when I was very young in middle and high school preparing annual reports for the American College of Surgeons using Harvard Graphics.  I started out young on computers and I'm still at it.  My book smarts undoubtedly came from my dad. His most popular saying was always "some days I talk to myself because it is the only intelligent conversation I get all day."
  • Friend - I believe in being a true friend.  I don't know any otheLynne Ruffin and granddaughter Anisar way to be.  I don't like gossip.  I don't like haters.  Life is too short for negativity.  Keep it real with me and I will keep it real with you.
  • Sister - I have three brothers who all have lots of friends and are great guys.  One day I hope to meet someone like my brothers who take care of home.  I don't have any sisters (sigh!).
  • HAMPTON ROADS REALTORS ASSOCIATION Circle of Excellence Award Recipient 2007 has been one of the most  rewarding accolades I've received in the business!  I hope my business or the market rebounds so I can go Platinum to recover.
  • Graduate of Alpha College of Real Estate twice over. I left the business when I was married.  My ex asked me one day "Why do you work three jobs and the only bill you pay is the phone bill?"  He literally drove me to be a workaholic.  In order to be licensed again years after my divorce I had to start over.  I take a lot of continuing education courses as well.  If nothing else being a real estate professional in Virginia requires a lot of theory.
  • Graduate of Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia with Honors.  I worked full-time during the day at Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA), was a licensed real estate agent working on a closing the same time I was working on finishing my degree had three children and a husband at home who were in all kinds of activities.  Trust and believe it was only due to God's Grace I made it through.  I was so overwhelmed I lost track of me.  Whew!
  • Graduate St. Augustine's College, Raleigh, North Carolina with Honors - I loved my band director we called him Jeff and I was always labeled as one of his girls!  Cheerleader during one of the biggest wins in the school's history - basketball playoffs started off here at the Scope in Norfolk, VA we finished up at the playoffs in Massachusetts.  What a memorable year!  I would love to have a picture of the stunt the Cheerleaders performed during the CIAA tournament that year (1983).  One of the deans was in attendance from college administration and ordered us cheerleaders not to do it again.  I was at the very top of a 5 level human pyramid and I can't say I was mad at them at all for that call.  I was probably a 110 pounds soaking wet back during those days.  I had cheered in high school and I was one of the bigger girls due to height and I was normally an anchor.  College was very different.  My mom and grandmother hosted a dinner for the Cheerleaders during our stay in the area for the playoffs and it was one of the most memorable steak dinners I ever had.
  • Attended Jackson State University (JSU) in Jackson, Mississippi.  The band experience is truly an experience in the dirty south.  I will never forget my experience playing clarinet with the Sonic Boom of the South.  We practiced for hours each night.  Most of our games were away games and I got to travel to almost every state in the Southeast.  It was really an experience.  We played the pre-game for the New Orleans Saints and that was classic.  I hope to reconnect with my college roommates one day.  They thought I was spoiled, selfish, and self-centered.   They will be amazed at how being a mother and grandmother throws all the "Me, myself, and I's" out the window.
  • Graduate Maury High School, Norfolk, Virginia - thank you laude I graduated with my Academic Diploma seal.  I thought I was going to have to stay another year and switch over to chemistry due to the chemistry between me and the biology teacher.  Concert band, marching band, cheerleader, and Spanish Club member.
  • Former Business/Computer Instructor with Tidewater Tech in Norfolk, Virginia my students called me Mrs. Britt.  I was married during my tenure there.  It was one of the most intrinsically rewarding positions I have ever held.  I loved all my students.  As a teacher when you interact successfully with your students you soon realize the learning is reciprocal.  At times I do corporate training as well.  I'm one of those teacher's who love sharing what I've learned and take my efforts to heart.
  • Over 20 years experience in the Housing Industry
  • Web Designer and Web Developer.  I set up this website so you can feel free to provide me with any feedback at all.
  • I like to laugh and have fun.  I spend a lot of time online playing Scrabble, Turbo 21, and Poppitt on www.Pogo.com.  I do think FACEBOOK has them all beat hands down.  I like reading all the posts from my FB Friends and FAM.  And I also like to Tweet, it is so Sweet!  I have learned a lot from Tweets posted from people all around the world.

I attended all Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) after graduating from Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia.  Jackson State University awakened me to an all new perspective of the educational agenda in America.  I received a full four-year academic scholarship based on standardized test scores.  Alumni of St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina where I attended on Music Scholarship.  Additionally, I am an Accounting graduate with honors from Norfolk State University.  One of the reasons why I like the Hampton Roads area is because of the high presence of institutions of higher learning.
